Fossil Wars is a fast-paced card game where player’s turn into paleontologists on a mission to gather the most valuable collection of dinosaur fossils. Here’s how the game works: There’s a central deck of cards from which players dig fossils. Most of these cards are dinosaur fossils. Some of these are too big and hence broken into 2 or 3 parts. On each fossil card, you’d find three main attributes of that dinosaur – it’s type, time period and region. It also has a face value assigned on the top right corner. Players dig fossils from the central deck and exhibit their finds in different sections as per their type, time period or region. A section with at least 2 dinosaurs is considered complete. While digging 1 card is free, players can pay and dig more in the same turn. For this, they may gather money by selling fossils that they may not use to the market. Other players may also find what they need in the market and can buy from there as well. To make the game even more interesting, players may also get power cards in the deck which can change the game quite significantly. For example, a Moolahraptor allows you to steal up to 3 cash from any one player. And the Pirate card allows you to take 2 cards from any one player’s hand! Suddenly, your opponents may have to adjust their game plan. Through these obstacles, if a player completes 3 different sections or exhibits 5 dinosaurs within 1 section, the game ends. Now, all players calculate the total value of their exhibited fossils plus any remaining cash. However, this in itself does not determine the winner. There are several bonus points that are awarded in the end as per the diversity of your collection such as +2 points if you have fossils from all three time periods, +3 for dinosaurs from any 5 continents, +4 for dinosaurs with 3 parts and many more.

Fun family game! It is a super fun game! Any kid or adult who loves dinosaurs, this is a really enjoyable game. Even those new to dinosaurs will enjoy reading the facts and remember. Rules are easy to understand. The graphics on the cards are very good quality and facts on them are fun to read.It is more fun if there are 3 or more players. A unique and fun way to learn about dinosaurs. The rules and scoring are a little confusing initially, but my little is obsessed with dinosaurs and really loved this game. The cards offer a great deal of information about the dinosaurs, buuut the game only focuses on a few pieces of that information. It would be nice if all the elements were incorporated to encourage learning more of the information provided, but it’s still a really fun and cute game.
Great game for a dino lover My son is obsessed with Dinosaurs. I really liked that it had information on the cards. Some he knew and some he didnt. The game was easy to learn. We picked it up in no time at all. Afterward my son readvall the cards. Nice that it is small enough to take with us traveling.
